Bintan Trip 06
Alright Im back from bintan, well I was back a few days ago, but took a while to actually transfer the pics to the comp and shit. But overall it was realli fun, and free as well, I always make it a point to go there, I guess the escapist in me yearns to have the lifestyle which I had in Bintan. right now, its life but without much style I must say. I'll miss the place, but I know I will be back there before I know it. 3 years and running. Above was the villa I stayed in, a total of 18 people stayed inside. It had a damn big hall, dining room, a rec room, another hall upstairs, 5 bedrooms, u get the pic. 1000 bux a night. Basket, I can only dream of living in sucha place. There was more than enough space for all, the buggy right in front was my favourite toy, being a license-less person, this was my closest opportunity to driving and I embraced it wholeheartedly, ferrying everybody around.
This was the back view of the house, with a private pool and the white thingey was shooting bubble jets which just sorta made me feel itchy. I didnt step into the pool till the last day, dunno why its always been a tradition of mine, and I used it for an epic "last man standing" match with one of my tuition students and fellow wrestling fanatic Jack Khoo. We kept jumping into the pool, he must have done a million flying elbow drops, and i returned the favour in kind with a Batista Bomb from the "top rope" and a flying pedigree. I know u dont understand but just picture an 11 year old boy and a 22 year old dude flinging themselves into the water. Yes, wrestling does bond people of all ages.
This was the veranda/balcony where we sat and chatted away, usually occupied by my uncle and his wife who have a habit of chatting with each other till late before calling it a night. Look in the distance and u see the beach, yes the beach was literally a few metres away, basket. Talk about beach front housing.
And this was the beach, clear white sand which was wide enough to play futsal on, and literally untouched as well. Its not dat clear though, but it will do, hell of a beach compared to ECP, which only serves to give people blisters, you can ask the girls about this.
I had time to hone my coaching skills in Bintan as I coached (from your right to left), Ikhwan, Amira, Atiqa and Jack in the beautiful game of soccer, we moved the goalpost for a nice 2v2 game of futsal and it was realli fun, though they were tired. Atiqa even did the fartlek, which she found rather effective. Working with kids this young is still foreign to me, and realli the emphasis has to be on having just 120% fun. Jack played soccer with me for 3 straight days and it was realli fun, though it was only the two of us, the beautiful thing about kids is their enthusiam for learning, realli. Atiqa surprised me with her skills on the ball, and she saved a heck of a volley from me, leaving scars on her hand and cries of "my arm's broken" during the match. Damn funny but super fun.
LASERQUEST! Game of the year, amnd I come to Bintan for this man, we played 4 rounds of it across the 3 days and it was a brilliant adrenalin rush. happy to say my scores have been improving over the years and I have been getting more accurate, ending the trip with a top score of 710. Its the best game ever, and they upgraded the arena with smoke machines, great music (think the soundtrack from "The Rock" starring Nick Cage) and of course the multi levels meant only one thing....
Camping and sniping. Taking the higher ground was essential, so one had to be realli careful when he/she was on the ground floor as u were super exposed, so if you wanna move on the ground floor, move fast. I for one, decided to leave the sniping to the sisters, Amira and Atiqa, and made my way for some stealth attacks from the sewers and from the blind spots of the enemy camp.
Ok, I know this is hardly a nice military stance, but well, stealth mah...anyways I was preparing to sneak up with Atiqa behind me, which culminated in our last attack. A pincer movement from the left and right on the enemy camp, which became this....
An all out attack, as you can see, Atiqa is running away and screaming her ASS off, and the rest of them were aiming their guns at my uncle and me who were shooting back, somehow the camera doesnt capture the laser and lights, must be the shutter speed or something, but this was a superb move which won us the last game of the "tourney".
This was my Uncle Tony, who fell down within the first few seconds and immediately improvised by taking up a prone stance, which is of course highly illegal since it prevented us from shooting the targets on his back and on his chest.
My uncle Asri, super sharp shooter, even though I outscored him by 100 over points in the last round, his shot ratio is so much better, which was why I wanted him on my team, haha.
Oh well dats all for now, the Laserquest pisc are courtesy of my father, who went into the arena to take the photos cos he was too tired to play already after 3 rounds. Anyways Bintan was great fun, and the company was realli great. I found out things about my late Grandpa which just serves to show how extraordinary a man he was. Sigh. Another time for that.
Alright man, tom its Singapore vs China, will be going with mini, maybe the lions can give us something to cheer about. Maybe. I realised I actually blogged about my last Bintan trip as well, haha.
Out.
