First Day Out
Yesterday was my first day out, and went straight to Perth City Centre, which is something like the Orchard road of the Perth area. But actually its not realli as built up as Orchard road, nor are there many people trying to squeeze past each other like back in Singapore. The concept of space is here is so different than in Singapore and it was comfortable to sit in a bus where you do not have to worry about seating space at all. It was also comfortable walking around without having to worry your clothes might be soaked in sweat and all.So I boarded the bus 401 (which goes to Pasir Ris Park in Singapore) at around 1145, here the buses run on quite a tight schedule, and you have to check the schedule of the bus at the bus stop itself, or maybe online, and you gotta make sure you are on time, cos if you miss it, you might have to wait quite long. For example, if I had missed the 1145 bus I would have had to wait till 1345. The ride also cost me a bit, about SGD$2.60 actually for a one way trip. So dont complain if things go up by a few cents over there k? Thankfully though once I get my own student card its suppose to go down by half.
Made my way down there within half an hour and jus started walking around, went to the bookstores and a few sports stores, so far so good, caters to what I need. And then I went to the major banks to look at which place to set up an account in. Went to three major banks before deciding on Commonwealth Bank. Turned out to be a great choice cos the service was realli top notch. And also the card can be used at Bankwest (another major bank here) ATMs as well. I dunno but theres somethig about the way they speak to you here and interact with you that makes it feel genuine, when compared to Singapore, which somehow feels more artificial. I dunno how to put it but thats just the way I feel about things. Anyways the guy I met was very forthcoming about things and helped me set up an account here.
After that I bused home, spoke to this Australian guy who asked me a lot about Singapore and the Malay Language and all, and by the time I reached home it was about 4 plus, which was quite late considering it gets dark around 5 plus. Popped by Glendalough village to buy some stuff like bread and potato wedges before settling in for the night. The halal meat I bought was realli superb, and was a great buy, it cooked so easily and I am realli looking forward to eating it again. But for lunch later its gonna be sausages! A nice giant one together with noodles! I seroiusly need to get vege.
Well yesterday was a tiring day but it was fulfilling cos I managed to ride the bus and all. Today I might be going to the Innaloo mall, just to check out what they have there, or I might just slack at home and stuff, will see how things are going. Colby's home too and its surprising but when you don't realli have a social life here, just having your housemate around in the house feels that much better.
Alright, will keep you guys updated, here are two pics I took to give you guys a picture of things.
This is the picture of the inside of the bus, they have an EZ link thingey at the door just like in Singapore, and the bell you press is EXACTLY the same as in Singapore. Seats and such are ok, the only problem is that the buses are quite heavily vandalised.
I took this picture cos I've never realli seen leaves in Autumn, so if you can see the trees to the left and right of the ARTScentre, can see they are an absolutely beautiful red. Brilliant. Wanted to take more pics but I was too busy getting lost and finding myself back again (literally).
Anyways till later.
Missing all,
Az
