I just got back from a run with my youngest bro Amirul. Well, not really just, more like an hour and a half ago, but somehow still realli feeling the shackness, even more so, now dat I've taken a bath and am all clean and stuff.
Man, so unfit, I am.
But well, I've been down this road before, trying to regain fitness is a bitch, especially the first few sessions. I only ran about 3 plus k, but somehow it felt like I just finished a 16k. This is why I appreciate Mr Tan, cos he made us run like hell, double digit Ks were a challenge, yes, but were quite easily surmountable. Still rem running 12k in my 3rd training session for the team a few weeks after O Levels in 2000. It was the fasting month and I swear I almost died, I was shivering in the MRT on the way back cos my stomach was so empty.
But anyways, that was the past, aiming for NIKE Real Run in August. It was quite ok last year, when I was super unfit, the beach almost killed me, but i managaed to reach my aim of not stopping throughout the race. Hopefully this year will be better, though I must still figure how to perform optimally on dat damn beach.
My brother is quite a good runner though, and I picture him beating me in the next two years. He was leading me by a reasonable length at the at the start, but I think the 9am heat and the gravel at the reservoir took it out of him. We were planning to run another K, but with my bro's stitch, and me not feeling up to it, it ended up being a long ardous walk.
Its so irritating when u wanna reach the end, but u cant go any faster cos your so tired.
Oh well, tom its back to the gym for strengthening again before another run on Friday. This time though, hope I wake up earlier.
9 am its too too late.
